Performance Improvement: Working together for results.

The documents below were prepared for the Human Performance Technology course of my Master's program. They look at containing costs associated with employee recruitment due to teacher turn over at the Cree School Board.

These reports follow up from research I conducted beginning in 2017 examining the experiences of Indigenous students and how new teachers could be better supported to create culturally safe classrooms.

A Performance Needs Assessment (PNA) is a holistic analysis that explores the the gaps between an organisation's current and ideal performance.  This document provides a global view of environmental factors and employee behaviours that support or prevent an organisation from meeting its business objectives. This PNA looks at how to reduce costs associated with employee turn over at the Cree School Board.

The High Level Design is a document that takes the information uncovered in the PNA and provides a menu of potential interventions that will help the business achieve its objectives. These interventions may include recommendations for changes in the work environment; redesign of processes and procedures; training programs and more. Nine potential interventions are highlighted for the Cree School Board.

The Detailed Design takes the performance improvement campaign one step further, preparing the interventions described in the High Level Design to be actioned by a development team. This document provides critical information on how to implement a peer support program that proposes matching new teachers with local Indigenous partners to support their integration. It also proposes a plan to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention at improving performance and addressing the original business need.
